WELCOME TO THE VOZ PROPIA FOUNDATION

1999 -2009

The central mission of Voz Propia is to create, preserve and present socially relevant artistic, community and sustainability projects which are focused on public welfare and preservation of culture. The focus of the organization since it was founded in 1999 has been to:

1. ✦work with children, juveniles and women in music, theatre and artistic creations
   

2. ✦help the people of Costa Rica appreciate their cultural identity and value their land through music and theatre productions
   

3. ✦develop projects which address important social issues and environmental issues.
   

The model of Voz Propia is to start projects at the local level which can grow to regional, then national and international programs. This is reflected by the organization, GuanaRED, which grew out of a meeting called by Guadalupe Urbina made up of her former students and community cultural leaders who are committed to using their skills to educate young children, juveniles and women giving them skills and values that can help make them contributing members of their communities.  Voz Propia is committed to participating in social projects that serve community, cultural identity and environmental issues that benefit the pubiic.
